MEven if the temperature is a little cool that day, the sun comforts a handful of golfers who wouldn't give up their place for anything in the world. In the heart of Chalosse, they take full advantage of a somewhat unique practice. From children to adults, from novices to bogey specialists, everyone will find what they are looking for at the Amou Golf practice.
Since July 8, this structure has opened its doors, a stone's throw from the tree climbing site, bringing additional attractiveness to the Chabrague area. An innovation desired by the owner of the place, Félicien Taris.
For several years, this pure Landais – revealed to the general public by the TF1 show “Loft Story” – has worked tirelessly to make his Chaloisse lands a must for tourism and entertainment. Even if the decades have piled up since his cathodic antics, he has not changed. Always at a hundred miles an hour and his territory pegged to his heart, he displays an intact determination to achieve his objective.
A strong encounter
“They thought I was crazy when I mentioned this project for the first time,” smiles the business manager. In the meantime, he is laying the groundwork one after the other. After tree climbing which is attracting more and more fans, the driving range is another asset that strengthens the offer in this jewel of Chalosse. And certainly not the last. It again results from a meeting. The one with a golf specialist, Myles Foster. “We saw each other, I told him what I wanted. Logically, it happened,” he continues.
Covering an area of two hectares, the practice offers a fairly sophisticated tool with around ten stations (almost all covered). It is equipped with the Trackman Range system, materialized by a few radars which crisscross the premises. “This tool is incredible. You hit your ball and all the data is displayed instantly on the screen,” emphasizes teacher Myles Foster. You thus discover the trajectory of the ball, its angle and its speed for example. “With this tool, you will be able to easily measure your progress,” adds Félicien.
This system attracts professionals “who use it for training sessions”. “This site allows you to repeat gestures, work on specific points and in ideal conditions,” says one of the regulars.
A playful aspect
In addition, this system is very fun. From this Amol site, you can virtually complete several golf courses. As if you were at the Golf National in Yvelines, in Abu Dhabi or quite simply at the Seignosse golf course. “We can train from here as if you were there,” says Félicien. You hit your ball and on the screen you follow its evolution on site. And you can play all 18 holes in these conditions.” In the images, the resemblance is striking. Including sandbars or bodies of water. “I know the Seignosse site. On the screen, it’s exactly the same thing,” smiles one of the day’s participants.
“They thought I was crazy when I first mentioned this project”
This installation is also intended to be entertaining for the youngest practitioners (who are welcomed there from the age of 4 or 5 with clubs adapted to their size). She offers games. “They hit the balls and on the screen, it’s like in video games,” explains the professor. The ball rises in the air and falls back onto the driving range. On the screen, you have hit the mark and the targets are hit. You can continue. It doesn't take much to make it almost addictive. And always in a good mood.
Large amplitude
This site “which democratizes the practice of golf” is open seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Subscription packages are offered for the most diligent. A dispenser is installed at the entrance to deliver the precious little balls to your swing. Here's an idea for a walk to try with family or friends during these end-of-year holidays. In addition, group or individual lessons are also offered to become a perfect golfer.
In the coming months, this site will continue to change, notably with the creation of a 9-hole golf course that is still quite original. “The work will begin in the coming weeks, Place Félicien. He will be in the woods. Here again, there will be nice surprises. »
Long before, unusual accommodation will open their doors as well as a bar restaurant with a panoramic terrace overlooking the Chalosse. The final arrangements are currently being made. The owner of the premises will meet in the spring to see the XXL transformation of this site. Still far from finished. Ideas are never lacking for Félicien who wants to make this corner of Chalosse a must-see in the Landes.
