To get in shape, the day started at the club house with a musical breakfast. Before a shot gun departure at around 10 a.m. And according to a somewhat particular formula: the French 4-person scramble. At the start of each hole, all competitors play their first shot. The team captain then chooses the ball he considers to be the best. The order of play is free, but the golfer whose ball is chosen does not play that shot.
Young people in the spotlight
By going to the club's website you will not find the President's and Gardeners' Cup in the list of official results. Which does not prevent the competition from giving rise to some great games. As could be expected, given their state of form in September, the young Gabriel Cattozzo, Guilhem Ressiguié, and Corentin Besse, associated with their teacher Laurent Seinger, flew through the tournament by returning a card of – 18. Second place was taken by the experienced Philippe Landrot, Gérard Cour, Edouard Martinon and Patrice Renaud, who finished 6 shots behind the winners. Finally the last step of the podium went to the quartet composed of president Carl Fraselle and Gilles Beaufay, Laurent Nourisson and Marc Gely, and who finished 8 shots behind the victorious team. Note that the Grand Chalon green spaces service offered golfers magnificent plants and bags of soil.
FKT digit have top
Hosted by Jonathan Bidault, manager of the Golf de la Roseraie, the awards ceremony, attended by Dominique Melin, vice-president of the Grand Chalon in charge of sports, broke all records for duration… It is true that for the latter of the year, in addition to the President's and Gardeners' Cups, the winners of several challenges were rewarded. Starting with those of the Partenaire's Cup 2024. A trophy which brought together eleven teams defending the colors of the club's main sponsors and whose first edition was won by FKT digit, a young company from Grand Chalon, specializing in the wholesale trade of office machines and equipment. With a total of 1379.5 pts, she is ahead of Monsieur Store by 184.5 pts and Audi Chalon by 190.5 pts. In individuals Véronique Forin (FKT digit) ranks first with 209.5 pts ahead of Guillaume Renaud (Côté Optique) 203.5 pts and David Philippe (FKT digit) 201.5 pts.
Three beautiful winners
The winners of the Ringer Score 2024, in which 39 players took part, were also rewarded. In the 1st series Théo Joby left Philippe Landrot behind by 1 shot. In the 2nd series Alain Perrault narrowly won against Véronique Forin, both authors of a score of 67. In the 3rd series Josiane Droux beat Brigitte Brelaud by 3 strokes. Ringer Score consists of playing the same course several times, retaining only the best score achieved on each hole and this year it was played over 19 rounds.
It was therefore Jonathan Bidault, assisted by Louise Arnaud, who presented the prizes. A pleasant task if ever there was one, but which became complicated when it came to honoring the winner of the club championship in match play, which brought together around fifty players. Indeed the 2024 champion is none other than the friendly manager of the Chalonnais golf course, who in the final dominated Marc Gély, the small final being won by Arnaud Nicolle against Faustine Planté.
No dress code was required for this last major meeting of the season, but Jonathan Bidault and his team invited participants to come in disguise, in order to add an air of celebration to the event. 2024 has been a great season. See you in spring 2025.
