Launched in pursuit of a reckless driver who had just passed a red light, a municipal police officer on a motorcycle was knocked down by another motorist, his life in danger

On the evening of Tuesday, August 27, a municipal police officer from Dammarie-les-Lys (Seine-et-Marne) was seriously injured in a traffic accident while he was in the middle of an intervention.

According to information fromActu 17around 10 p.m., on Avenue Jean-Jaurès, a motorist ran a red light at an intersection. The motorcycle police then decided to follow him to carry out a check. According to our colleagues, their flashing lights and two-tone siren were activated. One of the officers was then “hit by a vehicle that was going through a green light”, before his motorcycle fell on top of him.

The 36-year-old civil servant was taken to the fire station and then airlifted to Henri-Mondor hospital in Créteil (Val-de-Marne), in a critical condition, with a life-threatening prognosis. He is said to be suffering from multiple injuries and severe head trauma.

According to the results of the drug tests, the driver who collided with the police officer had not consumed alcohol or drugs. An investigation has been opened.
