Perseverance money for Tanguy de La Forest, medalist for the first time in six participations in the Games

The Frenchman took second place on Friday in Châteauroux in the mixed 10m air rifle standing event.

A first French medal in Châteauroux. Tanguy de La Forest won silver in shooting, on the 10 m standing air rifle (SH2 category), Friday, August 30. The shooter brought the French Paralympic team its fifth medal. In qualifying, the Frenchman had already made an impression by setting a new Paralympic record before the final with a score of 638.2 points. In an extremely tight final, he was only beaten by two tenth by the Slovenian, Francek Gorazd Tirsek (253.3 points, a new Paralympic record). South Korean Huntae Seo completed the podium.

Double world champion of the event (in 2022 and 2023), Tanguy de La Forest won his first Paralympic medal for his sixth participation in the Games. The Frenchman has not missed an edition since Athens 2004. He had never done better than fourth, in Rio in 2016. In Japan in 2021, on the 10 In the standing air rifle, Tanguy de La Forest finished 5th.

The shooter still has two events on his Paralympic programme. He will compete in the 10m air rifle prone on Sunday 1st September, a discipline in which he won a bronze medal at the 2023 world championships. Finally, on 4th September, he is expected to compete in the 50m rifle prone, in which he has two world crowns (2023 and 2022).
