NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) –First Alert Weather Day continues oppressive heat and humidity through early eveningand possible strong to severe thunderstorms Saturday.

THROUGH MORNING:

Very hot and humid weather willcontinue through early evening. A First Alert Weather Day remains in effect forthe oppressive heat and humidity. The heat index will top 100° in manycommunities.

Clusters of showers andthunderstorms will continue to pop up into the early evening hours. Watch forheavy downpours, frequent lightning, and pea-dime size hail. Localized floodingwill also be possible because storms will drift very slowly, lingering in thesame areas for a while.

Storms will diminish as high schoolfootball games get underway. It’ll stay very humid. Low, 74.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND:

Saturday is a First Alert WeatherDay for the potential for a few strong to severe storms, potentiallyproducing damaging wind gusts. The most likely time for the strongest storms isbetween 1 pm and 7 pm.

Scattered showers and thunderstormsare expected both Saturday and Sunday. Storms will get underway by mid-latemorning. The high Saturday will be in the low 90s with plenty of humidity. Withmore clouds in the area on Sunday compared with Saturday, Sunday’s highs willonly be in the 80s for a change.

Monday/Labor Day looks drier andless humid. Rain chance, 20%. All in all, Monday looks like a great day foroutdoor fun at the pool or lake. High, 90°.

TUESDAY & BEYOND:

More moderate temperatures are onthe way for next week. Count on highs in the 80s on most days. Humidity willremain moderate.

A few showers will be possible onWednesday through Friday.
