Barely released, “The Winter Warriors” by the Aveyron author was included in the pre-list for the prestigious prize.

“Something wonderful happened.” These are the first words with which the Aveyron author Olivier Norek greeted the news. “The Winter Warriors”, his latest novel, barely out of print, was selected for the first list of the prestigious Goncourt Prize.

Already rich with several prizes for his previous novels, notably the 2019 Maison de la Presse prize and the 2019 Babelio readers’ prize for Surface, Olivier Norek is in the running for this competition for the first time with this eighth novel.

Verdict in November

So who knows if Aveyron will receive a “Goncourt” in November 2024. The author who comes to draw his inspiration from Aubin, at his parents’ house, has in fact planned a big signing tour that will pass through Aveyron at the end of the year, with appointments in Laissac, Figeac, Carmaux, Espalion and Rodez.

And the cherry on the cake is that another “potential” Goncourt winner will be passing through Aveyron very soon. At the Maison du Livre in Rodez, more precisely, where Maylis de Kerangal will be welcomed on October 19 for her novel “Jour de ressac”.
