Following a shocking event, a group of friends decide, despite everything, to go on holiday to the seaside, like every year. Their friendship, their certainties, their guilt, their loves… Everything will be shaken.
This pitch, you may have recognized it, is that of Little White Lies, the biggest success of Guillaume Canet’s career. Released in theaters in 2010, this great film about friendship, which brought together nearly 5.5 million spectators in theaters and notably counts Gilles Lellouche, Marion Cotillard and François Cluzet in its credits, has left its mark on French cinema.
Between humor and melancholy, canetwith its superb cast of actors, has produced a sincere and sensitive work, full of emotion, which follows in the footsteps of Un éléphant, ça trompe beaucoup by Yves Robert, Vincent, François, Paul et les autres by Claude Sautet and Copains d’abord by Lawrence Kasdan.
To bring to life this group of friends who meet up every summer at the seaside, Guillaume Canet chose to stage his own friends in the city. Companion of Marion Cotillardthe filmmaker also attended CM1 in the company of Jean Dujardin, with whom he also made his first communion.
Benoît Magimel, for his part, experienced Guillaume Canet in 1994 on the TV film La Colline aux mille enfants, when Anne Marivin was a long-time friend of the actor-director.

Pour Guillaume Canetthe famous “small handkerchiefs” are the ones we put on our problems so as not to see them. The title therefore refers to the main subject of the film, centered on the question of lying to oneself and to others.
Turn The Little Handkerchiefsa very personal work for Guillaume Canetwas an intense and complicated moment for the latter. “I wanted the actors to feel things as I had felt them when writing”he says.
“I was quite obsessive, asking them to follow to the letter what I had written, imagined. I have never made a film with so much passion.”
