Climbing is a rapidly growing sport that has gained new fans with the World Climbing Championships in Bern, the city announced.

A climber at the foot of the viaduct still has almost all of his climbing holds ahead of him.

In total, there are 14 climbing routes and more than 1,800 holds available. The most daring can climb up to a height of 40 metres.

The project was largely financed by the Bernese section of the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC). In addition, crowdfunding was organised and the city contributed to the initial costs.
