Actress and fashion darling Madelyn Cline is on the precipice of super-stardom, and her most recent look aptly channeled an early 2000s Angelina Jolie, who went from a young starlet to a mainstay A-lister. On Tuesday, Cline arrived to the season 4 premiere of her hit Netflix show, Outer Banksin a slinky white gown that was reminiscent of Jolie’s iconic 2004 Oscars look.
Cline wore a deep, scoop-neck white gown from Tommy Hilfiger’s Spring 2010 collection with spaghetti straps, a cinched waist adorned with a gold embellishment, and a sarong-style sheer skirt that revealed built-in underwear. The dress’ thigh-high slit revealed Cline’s beige heels and she accessorized with a bolo-style choker, matching gold cuffs, and dainty hoop earrings. Her long blonde hair was parted down the middle and slicked back behind her ears.

Back in 2004, Jolie wore a similar silhouette to the 2004 Academy Awards. The silk pearl-colored slinky gown featured a plunging neckline, a ruched waist (just like Cline’s), and a long train. She also paired her ethereal look with a long choker and dainty earrings. She finished off the look with an intricate half updo that left the rest of her long curls down.

During Tuesday night’s event in Charleston, South Carolina (the filming location of the Netflix series), Cline was joined by her co-stars on the sandy carpet, including Drew Starkey, Chase Stokes, Madison Bailey, Carlacia Grant, Austin North, Rudy Pankow, and Jonathan Daviss. The highly anticipated new season of the teen drama will premiere on Netflix tomorrow, October 10, with another batch of episodes following on November 7.

In a recent interview with NylonCline opened up about her meteoric rise to fame thanks to the success of the show during COVID.
“I was also in the midst of discovering who the fuck I was. Especially after the show came out,” she said. “I had started building this identity when I moved here, and then all of a sudden, boom, I had this new identity.”
