The Tour of Lombardyoften nicknamed “the classic of dead leaves”, is one of the most prestigious cycling races at the end of the season. Created in 1905, it is one of the five “Monuments” of cycling, alongside races like - or Liège-Bastogne-Liège. This emblematic course of the Italian classics is particularly appreciated by punchers and climbers, due to its numerous climbs, such as the famous wall of Sormano or the climb towards the sanctuary of the Madonna del Ghisallo.

The Tour of Lombardy stands out for his demanding journeywhich criss-crosses the winding, hilly roads of the Lombardy region of northern Italy. The climbers have the opportunity to shine here, especially on the steep slopes that punctuate the race, while the punchers often try to place decisive attacks in the last kilometers. The natural setting, between mountains and lakes, adds to the beauty of the event, while putting a strain on the runners.

Last Monument of the cycling season, the Tour of Lombardy is often seen as a final opportunity for runners to end the year in style. Renowned for its difficulty, it regularly attracts the best climbers in the peloton, who seek to add this prestigious victory to their list of achievements. Whether for punchers or climbers, this Italian race remains an unmissable event on the world cycling calendar.
