Hicham Touili-Idrissi appears on social networks wearing the keffiyeh, a traditional dress in several Arab countries, but also which has become a symbol of the Palestinian cause.

Luis Vassy, who took over his office on Tuesday as director of Sciences Po, contacted the public prosecutor via article 40 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, affirms the school Figaroconfirming information from Sunday Newspaper . In his sights is Hicham Touili-Idrissi, a collaborator in the European Parliament of far-left elected official Rima Hassan. The young man, received second in the Clémenceau eloquence prize organized by the Ministry of the Armed Forces, is an activist for the Palestinian cause. He appears on social networks wearing the keffiyeh, a traditional dress in several Arab countries, but also which has become a symbol of the pro-Palestinian struggle.

On Thursday, the school celebrated “Africa Day”. Students, including Hicham Touili-Idrissi, took the opportunity to transform the hall in support of Gazans. “Israel assassin, Sciences Po complicit”, “Netanyahu, get out of it, Palestine is not yours” or even “For our brothers in Palestine and all those who are murdered, we are here” could be heard. The new management of Sciences Po therefore slammed its fist on the table in the face of excesses and used article 40 which states that “any constituted authority, any public officer or civil servant who, in the exercise of his functions, acquires knowledge of a crime or misdemeanor is required to give notice without delay to the public prosecutor and to transmit to this magistrate all the information, minutes and acts relating thereto”.

“An obligation for the administration”

The demonstration was also targeted by Patrick Hetzel, new Minister of Higher Education in a press release published Friday. “Demonstrations and positions of a political nature, linked to the conflict in the Middle East, have taken place in recent days in several establishments, in particular at Sciences Po ”, he wrote. He “strongly condemns these actions, which go against the principles of neutrality and secularism of the public service of higher education”. The minister recalls that “reporting to the public prosecutor constitutes an obligation for the administration when it observes facts which appear sufficiently established and likely to constitute a crime or misdemeanor”. Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the leader of La Insoumise, saw this in a conference on Friday “an abuse of power”. “I ask young students to ‘rebellion’, not to accept this ban”he said before calling for the installation of flags in the colors of the Palestinian Authority, as well as Lebanon, “where we can”.

Sciences Po had already been the scene of demonstrations in support of Gaza last March. “Sciences Po deplores an action and the practices used, which deliberately fall outside the framework set in terms of commitment and associative life. The administration reserves the right to immediately refer certain students to the disciplinary section.had confided to Figaro the management of Sciences Po. Anti-Semitic acts have jumped 1000% in France, according to the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions of France (Crif), since the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7.
