will see life in pink this Monday evening. At nightfall, several emblematic monuments of the capital will be lit up in pink, in homage to Pink October, the month dedicated to raising awareness of the fight against breast cancer. From 7:30 p.m., a free show will be organized on Place Vendôme (Ier) for the occasion.

When the sun has left the Parisian sky this Monday evening, the Eiffel Tower, accustomed to the operation, but also the obelisk of Place de la Concorde, Place Vendôme and the National Assembly will all be adorned with pink for several hours . These illuminations are the initiative of the Ruban Rose association, which supports medical and scientific research all year round and raises women’s awareness of the diagnosis of breast cancer.

One in eight women affected by breast cancer

The free show scheduled at Place Vendôme was scripted by Mehdi Kerkouche and set to music by singer Amir in order to shine the spotlight on women who have faced breast cancer. This whole operation aims to encourage women to be screened regularly.

“Today, breast cancer affects one in eight women,” recalls Ruban rose on its site. “Thanks to early detection, half of breast cancers are detected when they measure less than 2 cm,” explains the association. This level of detection makes it possible to achieve very high cure rates while reducing the doses of the drugs used, which then induce fewer side effects. » Detected in time, nine out of ten breast cancers could be cured.
