SNCF train tickets for the Christmas holidays go on sale this Wednesday, October 2.
TRANSPORT – The All Saints’ Day holidays only begin in two and a half weeks but the SNCF is already planning you into the Christmas holidays. The railway company is in fact putting on sale this Wednesday, October 2, from 6 a.m., tickets for the end-of-year holidays and the entire period from December 15 to January 8, 2025.
TGV, Intercités and Ouigo journeys are available (until July 5) for France and Europe. The first-come-first-served rule being in place, only the fastest will have a chance of obtaining a place at the lowest price because the SNCF has adopted for several years “dynamic pricing” (yield management) which varies rapidly the costs.
It can thus happen that the ticket for a journey purchased at the last minute costs three times more than one purchased 11 weeks in advance, that is to say from the opening of the ticket office. For those who are unsure about the exact date of their departure, the SNCF reminds that “all TGV INOUI & INTERCITÉS tickets are exchangeable and refundable free of charge up to 7 days before the train’s departure”.
The competition promises to be massive from this Wednesday. Le Figaro recalls that last year, the SNCF claimed to know “a historic crowd”. Every minute, the equivalent of six TGVs filled up.
And if you want to plan even further, know that tickets for the February-March holidays (from January 9 to March 23) will be on sale on October 13, reports Release.
