Interviewed by our colleagues from ParisianArnaud Tsamère – currently on the stages of the Théâtre du Montparnasse where he plays the famous Cyrano de Bergerac – spoke about a complicated period in his life, the one where he went through depression following a romantic breakup. The 49-year-old actor, father of Albert, born February 4, 2015 (the fruit of his love with his ex-wife Margot Laffite), experienced a troubled period following a separation which had been particularly painful.
What made him rediscover the joy of living was precisely this play by Edmond Rostand that his father had advised him to play. “It was he who made me realize how powerful, beautiful, modern this work was. Before he left, he was on his hospital bed, we were a few days from his death, we spoke about my career (…) Before leaving, my father reminded me a little. He said to me: We talked about Cyrano again and he said to me: You. If you dream of playing “Cyrano”, do it. He was right. I told him he really wanted to see me give meaning back to my career… I’m obviously going to think about him a lot. he told journalists at Parisian.
A piece that he describes as “a sort of Proust madeleine” since he already played it at the very beginning of his career when he was “person in the public eye”. From 2004 to 2006, he played “Guiche, Christian, the lover, and guard”. A piece which therefore has a very special place in his heart and in his life.
