This Saturday on the Avenue des Champs-Elysées, the parade of Olympic athletes, followed by a big concert, will bring together the crowds.

Some 70,000 spectators are expected, and will have to book, for the parade of Olympic and Paralympic athletes on the Champs-Elysées on Saturday, a parade which will be followed by a large free concert on the Place de l’Etoile, the organizers of the Olympic Games and the Elysée Palace announced on Wednesday.

The principle of this parade had been announced by Emmanuel Macron during the Olympic Games. It will take place less than a week after the end of the Paralympic Games and a successful summer of sport and festivities. In addition to athletes, those who participated in the Games, volunteers, and agents of the regional prefecture or Paris city hall, they will be “8,000 to 10,000” to parade on the legendary Parisian avenue, often the site of festive celebrations.

The athletes will walk up the avenue from 4pm to 6pm before being decorated outdoors, some by their peers who already have a decoration. It is traditional to decorate Olympic and Paralympic medalists, as after the Tokyo Olympics at the Élysée Palace by the President of the Republic. “The president wanted a collective moment”the Élysée Palace indicated during a press briefing.

A giant 300-meter podium will be installed between Avenue George V and Place de l’Etoile as well as a ring-shaped stage around the Arc de Triomphe for the concert that will start at 9 p.m. and end with a DJ set between 11 p.m. and midnight. You will need to reserve your place on a dedicated website (parade.paris2024.org) for the parade (30,000 seats) and the concert (40,000 seats) that opens Wednesday afternoon.
