All the parameters were nevertheless met for this edition of the associations forum to go well. Everything was going well, until the mayor and elected officials visited the stands. And it was at the gym club where a small hiccup occurred.
The discussion between the mayor and the team present inevitably turns to the club’s flagship project: the future gymnasium at the Coubertin stadium. The tone apparently rose and visitors and neighboring associations saw the gym club team pack up their things and leave the Forum.
The clash started with a clumsy remark, tinged with humor, from the mayor, who was apparently surprised to see the club come to the Forum. The club was in fact absent last year because the sports season had already started. This year, the club made the effort to come to the Forum despite its 492 registered members and a waiting list of 342 people.“, we learn. But what will not pass at all is the announcement of the schedule of the works.”It is still premature to know the status of this case.“, the mayor is said to have replied. “It’s not ready yet. We’ll have to wait a little longer…”

This 2,480 m² facility, very heavy in financing (more than €7.4 million including €500,000 in state aid) and ardently desired by the club which is seeing members refused due to lack of space, was to start this month for a period of 16 months with the hope of delivery of the facility estimated at the end of 2025. According to our information, the schedule has fallen behind schedule and the club may have to wait until 2026… Which made the gym team behind its stand lose their temper, and they therefore preferred to leave the event.
A call for tenders launched too late? Financial difficulties that have delayed the schedule? The story should not end there. A discussion that everyone hopes will be “calmed” with the mayor will be requested by the club in the coming days. With the fear of a new “pirouette” in the background…
