Kevin Magnussen has no regrets or resentment as he leaves Formula 1 at the end of the 2024 season. The one who played the last three seasons at Haas F1 is happy to leave the team while maintaining a good relationship , while he will return to BMW in the WEC next year.
“We’re not leaving each other on bad terms, that’s for sure.” assure Magnussen. “I feel like I'm part of the team. I think I'll be part of the team again next year. Whatever happens, I feel like this is my team.”
“I don't know how many years I've been here, seven or eight years. Seven seasons. So it's an eight-year period, which is a big part of my life. It's almost a third of my life , which is crazy, so of course I feel like I’m family.”
Magnussen is happy to leave after a good season for Haas F1, which seems to be on a positive dynamic since the arrival of Ayao Komatsu at its head, and before the change of the driver duo, which will be composed in 2025 of Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman.
“It's hard to take credit for all of that, but I think it's a good thing that we seemed to be progressing toward something better. If the team does well next year, I'll will certainly have contributed. The same goes for many other people. It's difficult to be proud of it.
“I think it's something that people on this team have deserved for many years. To see that kind of improvement, I think if you go back, you can see the potential that is in us. We have always experienced ups and downs. There are too many downs, too many ups and downs.
“I think these highs don't come without great talent on this team. There are some very talented people on this team who deserve to have better opportunities. I think this team is heading in a direction that will provide these opportunities.”
