A 9th package in the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines

A real epidemic seems to strike in San Diego, California with cascading packages in the Farmers Insurance Open where Matthieu Pavon will defend his title.

In the wake of Scottie Scheffler injured hand during the holidays and Xander Schauffele seriously affected (read here), 7 other players including 5 other players in the world top 100 also withdrew. The latest is the American Will Zalatoris who joins his compatriot Akshay Bhatiathe Dane for the 2023 Ryder Cup Nicolai Hojgaardthe English Harry Hall and the Canadian Mackenzie Hughes.

Two other Americans also chose to withdraw even before the first round: Bronson Burgoon and Chesson Hadley
