After a lackluster 2024 season, Williams has great ambitions for 2025 thanks to the arrival of Carlos Sainz. By leaving Ferrari, the Spanish driver joins a historic team which seeks to revive the successes of yesteryear. During his first laps with the FW46 during post-season testing at Yas Marina, Sainz demonstrated his potential, completing 146 laps and only losing to Charles Leclerc in terms of times. This promising start bodes well for a project which wants to propel Williams to the heart of the fight in the middle, or even at the top of the grid, from the opening of the season at Albert Park, as stated Mark.
“Fantastic things are on the horizon”
Sainz, recognized for his ability to optimize the development of single-seaters, has already started to influence the settings of the future FW47. Its in-depth technical analyses, particularly on the behavior of the differential and the braking phases, won over the British team. For James Vowles, technical director, this collaboration marks a turning point: “Good technological advances are happening and fantastic things are on the horizon,” he explained to Motorsport. With only six points finishes in 2024, mainly thanks to Alex Albon, Williams hopes to turn these promising starts into concrete results!
