Aston Martin has confirmed that Brazilian driver Felipe Drugovich will remain its test and reserve driver for the 2025 Formula 1 season, a role the 24-year-old has filled since the year he won his Formula 1 title. 2, in 2022. Aston Martin also has a second reserve driver, the Belgian Stoffel Vandoorne, linked to the English brand since 2023.

Drugovich participated in several free practice sessions with the green team, five in total, as well as three end-of-season tests. He also replaced starting driver Lance Stroll during pre-season testing in Bahrain in 2023 after the Canadian suffered an injury during the winter.

“I am obviously very happy to stay with Aston Martin Aramco for a third full season as a test and reserve driver”Drugovich said. “This team is on a roll and I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together.”

“AMRTC’s incredible new facilities [à Silverstone]including the all-new simulator, demonstrate the team's ambition, and I am committed to being part of Aston Martin Aramco's long-term success. As always, I would like to thank the team for their continued support.”

Only a few days ago, the British team announced the change of its team principal as part of a major reorganization. A role held by Mike Crack since 2022, now replaced by Andy Cowell, who joined Aston Martin last summer as CEO. Mike Krack, however, remains present in the team since he has taken over the position of director of track activities.

The Luxembourger also declared about Drugovich: “Felipe has been a vital member of our team since his arrival, and we are very excited to continue working with him until 2025, he is a real asset.”

“His contributions behind the scenes, especially in the simulator and during testing sessions, have been invaluable, and he never makes a mistake behind the wheel. Felipe's dedication and feedback has played a crucial role in our progress, and we are confident that he will continue to have a significant impact on our team.”

Aston Martin ended its press release by wishing its reserve driver good luck for the 24 Hours of Daytona. Indeed, Drugovitch was confirmed last November as the fourth member of the Action Express Racing crew alongside Earl Bamber, Alex Lynn and Frederik Vesti for the opening round of IMSA.
