Real Madrid and Barça face each other this evening in the final of the Spanish Super Cup at the King Abdullah Stadium. The two teams will field the same eleven as in the semi-final.

From 8 p.m., and for the third consecutive time in Saudi, the two clubs will face each other in a Clasico. Beyond the value of the trophy, Hansi Flick and Carlo Ancelotti agree that a title, moreover against the eternal rivals, can mark the future of the rest of the season.

The German will be looking to win his first trophy as Barca coach, while the Italian, who is already the most successful manager in the Merengue club’s history, is aiming for his 16th title, his fifth in a row after winning the championship, the Champions League, the European Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup.

Elevens without surprise

Although Tchouaméni had to leave the pitch against Mallorca due to a head impact and Bellingham ended up injured, the Madrid coach confirmed yesterday that he will be able to count on them, just like Modric, absent in the semi-final due to the flu.

It is therefore the same eleven which will be aligned by the Italian this evening to face FC Barcelona: Courtois, Vazquez, Tchouaméni, Rüdiger, Mendy, Camavinga, Valverde, Bellingham, Vinicius, Mbappé and Rodrygo.

It should be noted that in the event of a draw after 90 minutes, there will be no overtime. The two teams will decide directly on penalties. This decision was taken by the RFEF in order to avoid additional wear and tear on the workforce whose schedule is already extremely busy.

Ancelotti’s plan B

The two coaches will therefore very likely make changes earlier than usual depending on the match scenario. Carlo Ancelotti already has his plan B in mind, as AS reveals. The technician already knows which players he will bring in in the second half to provide support in the event of a score advantage, or otherwise to turn the match around.

These players are Luka Modric, Brahim Diaz and Arda Güler. Three trump cards up the Italian’s sleeve which will act as plan B to ensure victory. Neither Real Madrid nor Barça want to go to penalties and will certainly show all their cards before the final whistle.
