It is at the GM Charlotte Technical Center in Charlotte (North Carolina) that Prema officially launched its IndyCar program, a few weeks before the first race of the 2025 season scheduled for March 2 in the streets of St. Petersburg (Florida). .
Robert Shwartzman (n°83) and Callum Ilott (n°90), the two drivers expected to be the starters for the Italian team, were obviously present. The two WEC veterans were joined by Romain Grosjean. The 38-year-old Frenchman, who debuted in the North American single-seater championship in 2021, will occupy the role of reserve. After a contested 2024 season with Juncos, the former Formula 1 driver (179 starts) did not find a place on the grid for the next year.
Ryan Briscoe sports advisor
Grosjean’s involvement in this program is logical since the Frenchman had joined the Prema/Iron Lynx family in 2023 to drive in the Lamborghini SC63, a car that he will meet again for the 24 Hours of Daytona on January 25 and 26 . In addition to being a replacement of choice if one of the two starters were to withdraw from one of the races of the season, Romain Grosjean will be able to bring to the very young Prema IndyCar program his experience acquired over the last four seasons.
The Franco-Swiss is not the only experienced driver to find a place in the team since this is also the case of Ryan Briscoe (43 years old). The native of Sydney (Australia), 131 starts in the North American single-seater championship between 2005 and 2015, Formula 3 Euro Series champion in 2003 with Prema, has in fact been appointed sports advisor. The arrival of Michael Cannon as head of engineering has also been confirmed.
