Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has set Max Verstappen the target of winning a fifth consecutive F1 drivers' title in 2025, something Sebastian Vettel failed to do.
Verstappen won a fourth consecutive title with two events remaining in November in Las Vegas, putting him level with Vettel.
Like Verstappen, Vettel won his four titles in four consecutive seasons with Red Bull, before his reign ended in 2014.
However, the end of Vettel's dominance was largely caused by the introduction of hybrid regulations, which initially caused Red Bull many difficulties with Renault as engine supplier at the time.
“Of course not, this year 2024 was not great with the loss of the constructors' title, but the intentions were to stay healthy and celebrate new successes with Max Verstappen. And they came true.”
“No one else could have won this world championship title for us, it's clearly down to Max and his extraordinary abilities. Two years ago it would have been impossible for him to beat Lewis Hamilton or the Ferraris “Now he has the necessary maturity and knows that he must also drive with his points position in mind.”
“I hope we manage to win a fifth consecutive world title this year. It was not possible with Sebastian Vettel at the time due to the new engine regulations.”
“This time, however, the regulations remain unchanged. On the other hand, this also means that all other teams will be even closer, so I am counting on a very exciting battle between the top four teams.”
-For this, Liam Lawson was integrated into the team in place of Sergio Perez. For Marko, there was no risk to take.
“Checo always hoped to return to his old form, but unfortunately this was not the case. And then he realized that a resurrection was not possible for him in this environment and that a separation was the best thing to do. TO DO.”
With the regulations remaining the same for the coming season, we expect a hotly contested championship between Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes.
“For me, of course, Max is the favorite. With the composition of our team, Verstappen is clearly number one. While at Ferrari there will be a battle between Hamilton and Leclerc and Piastri will not settle for a role No. 2 driver at McLaren I don't know how it will happen at Mercedes, it depends on Kimi Antonelli.
“So in some teams there will be an internal struggle, something I don’t think we’ll see with Liam Lawson.”
