Red Bull Racing advisor Helmut Marko would welcome Jürgen Klopp's involvement in Formula 1. In an interview with RTL/ntv and sport.de, the 81-year-old Austrian said enthusiastic about a potential collaboration with the former Liverpool manager.
Helmut Marko would like Klopp for the Red Bull Racing team
Klopp's recruitment as global director of football at Red Bull is already being called a “sensational” by Marko, who highlights the company's presence in football through its clubs in Germany, Austria, England, Japan and Brazil. This appointment, effective January 1, is the result of a negotiation process lasting more than two years, as revealed by Oliver Mintzlaff, CEO of Red Bull.
The two leaders only met once
If contacts between Marko and Klopp are still limited – only one meeting to date – the Austrian leader does not hide his admiration for the German's leadership qualities. An introductory press conference is planned for January 14 at the company's headquarters in Fuschl am See, Austria, where Klopp could reveal more about his new role, including possible implications in Red Bull's F1 program.
