Max Verstappen was unanimously elected best driver of the 2024 F1 season by the 10 team directors, that is to say including the directors of Ferrari, Mercedes F1 and McLaren. A great recognition!
The official F1 website asked, as at the end of each season, each team principal to name their top 10 drivers of the season, with the current F1 points system being used to add up the scores to discover the absolute top 10.
Verstappen received the maximum 250 points after being rewarded with first place by all team principals. He was followed by Lando Norris, who received 72 fewer points.
Charles Leclerc finished third and, like Norris, moved up one position from the team principals' 2023 top 10.
Oscar Piastri was the biggest gainer among the top teams, taking fourth place on the list, three places better than last year.
Carlos Sainz finished fifth, also one position better than in the 2023 team principals' rankings.
Lewis Hamilton fell two places to seventh, while two-time world champion Fernando Alonso made the biggest move in the wrong direction, falling from second to ninth.
