Ferrari is preparing for a big upheaval in 2025. The arrival of Lewis Hamilton at Maranello – which some consider to be the transfer of the century – will be a game-changer next year. The seven-time world champion will try to write his legend in the great book of the Italian team by trying to win an eighth world crown. However, at the Scuderia, Charles Leclerc has been well established there since 2019 and is aiming for a first title in Formula 1. Two hungry drivers, two talented drivers, two ambitious drivers: for Frédéric Vasseur, director of Scuderia Ferrari, the two men will know how to build a relationship and a healthy rivalry that will take the team to the top.

“It’s always a challenge. (…) Between Charles and Carlos we had difficult moments – like at Monza in 2023 or Las Vegas in 2024 – but in the end I think it was beneficial for the team’s performanceunderlined the French leader during the Christmas lunch organized by Ferrari in Fiorano. Charles and Lewis, that doesn’t particularly worry me. They have great mutual respect, they know each other, they have been talking about it for months and I think it is much better to fight to finish 1st and 2nd, or 1st and 3rd, than to finish 19th or 20th. »

Leclerc – Hamilton, a fiery duo at Ferrari

Charles Leclerc, 27, and Lewis Hamilton, 39, are at two different stages of their careers but both have the ambition of becoming the first world champion at Ferrari since Kimi Räikkönen, crowned in 2007. If the Briton lost a little of his splendor over the last three seasons with Mercedes, particularly in qualifying, he still remains a formidable driver in the race. Conversely, the Monegasque is still performing as well in the flying lap exercise and has progressed in the race, according to Frédéric Vasseur.

“I think Charles has improved a lot in management, not only tire management but also race management, the approach before the weekend, recognizes Scuderia boss. Of course it’s never perfect, and we all have to improve everywhere, but I think he’s in better shape today than he was 12 months ago. We still have to work and develop it, but it is on the right track.” If Lewis Hamilton manages to properly integrate into Ferrari, the duo of the Italian team could be formidable in 2025. His relationship with Charles Leclerc – courteous and friendly in the paddocks until now – must still withstand a possible ego war.
