According to Ted Kravitz, journalist for Sky Sports, Alex Albon’s contract with Williams would include a clause allowing him to leave the Grove team to join Red Bull. The information was revealed during the broadcaster’s F1 podcast, fueling speculation about a possible return of the Thai driver to the Austrian team.
“As I understand it, there is an exit clause in Albon’s Williams contract that allows him to leave if Red Bull comes knocking on his door again”, Kravitz said.
“Williams could have run Franco Colapinto and Carlos Sainz.”

“Albon is so much older and wiser and knows how to handle Max and the whole situation, and I don’t know why they didn’t do that.”
For his part, Alex Albon reaffirmed his intention to stay with the Williams team for the long term. When announcing his contract extension, the driver stressed that he considered his future with the team as a real long-term project, demonstrating his confidence in the development of the team.
“This is a long-term project that I really believe in and in which I want to play a key role. This is why I signed a multi-year contract”, said the 28-year-old pilot.
With the announcement of Sergio Pérez’s departure from Red Bull, a seat is free at Red Bull for the 2025 Formula 1 season. However, Liam Lawson seems to be the driver best placed to support Max Verstappen within the team Austrian.
