Théo Pourchaire, Zane Maloney and Carrie Schreiner are not retained by the Sauber Academy and will be able to continue their careers elsewhere.

Théo Pourchaire, Zane Maloney and Carrie Schreiner have remained active throughout 2024, racing at some of the world’s most prestigious circuits and representing Sauber Motorsport’s driver development program in their respective campaigns.

Pourchaire, Maloney and Schreiner are no longer members of the Sauber Academy

Théo Pourchaire who won the FIA Formula 2 championship in 2023 has long been under the wing of the team, having acted as reserve driver this year while joining Super Formula for its inaugural campaign in the category. The Frenchman then moved to IndyCar to race with Arrow McLaren, where he performed well on his debut. While his name has been mentioned for a seat at Sauber on the starting grid in 2025, his next chapter will see him become a test and development driver for Peugeot in the world endurance championship.

Zane Maloney, meanwhile, has also been backed by Sauber as a reserve driver in 2024, alongside a strong season in F2, with the Barbadian starting his campaign by winning both races at the opening round in Bahrain. Although he was unable to follow up with further victories, Maloney remained in contention for the title and finished the year in fourth place in the drivers’ standings, his final appearance being at the he penultimate event in Qatar before making his Formula E debut during the 2024-2025 season on behalf of Lola Yamaha ABT.

Carrie Schreiner also leaves the Sauber Academy. She completed her second and final season in F1 ACADEMY this year, while gaining experience in other categories such as British F4 and competing in the Nurburgring 24 Hours. While she will now leave the all-female series, Schreiner is set to take on the role of Sauber brand ambassador in 2025, a position that will allow her to promote the team’s values and act as a mentor for young pilots, while continuing his own racing career.

Among the names remaining in the Sauber Academy are former F1 ACADEMY driver Lena Buhler and young kart driver Taym Saleh. The Kick Sauber F1 team, meanwhile, will welcome a brand new team in 2025, Nico Hülkenberg joining from Haas while 2024 FIA F2 champion Gabriel Bortoleto will make his Formula 1 debut.
