Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc in full doubt at the Las Vegas GP

This weekend is the Las Vegas Grand Prix. If Max Verstappen can win a fourth world crown, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, Ferrari drivers, both expressed their dissatisfaction during free practice.

If there are three Grands Prix left to compete on the calendar for the 2024 F1 season, the one looming this weekend could have a very special flavor. Indeed, Max Verstappen, already three-time reigning world champion, could make even more history by being crowned for the fourth time in a row.

The Dutchman from Red Bull has dominated Formula 1 head and shoulders for several seasons. To annoy him, McLaren, Mercedes, but also Ferrari. Even if Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz were not really celebrating during free practice.

“A complicated day”, Leclerc and Sainz expect better from their Ferrari

Respectively fourth and fifth in free practice 2 of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Carlos Sainz Jr and Charles Leclerc did not really look like the big nights when they presented themselves to the press. The Spaniard notably confided:

It was a complicated day, the car felt strange and there was little grip. We are not satisfied yet, we already have to work and improve for qualifying. The race pace is not bad, but there is a lot to do.

His Monegasque teammate seems to have shared this point of view: “It wasn't a memorable day for us, but it seems to have been complicated for the other teams too. We are not as strong as we hoped.” Reaction expected next night during free practice 3. A session during which Max Verstappen, only 17th during FP2, will also want to do much better. Like the other Red Bull driver, Sergio Pérez, 19th last night.
