In the Formula For Success podcast, of which he is the co-presenter, Eddie Jordan sharply criticized current F1.
It's a rant that may well be noticed in F1. Former founder of the Jordan Grand Prix team from 1991 to 2005, Eddie Jordan has a strong opinion on the evolution of the premier category of motorsport. For the Irishman, Formula 1 was better before. In his podcast Formula For Success which he co-presents with David Coulthard, he criticized the current single-seaters, in particular their lack of interest and the removal of the V10 which made a shrill noise.
F1 of yesteryear was 'sex on wheels' according to Eddie Jordan
“When you went to a race – say at Silverstone, even if you weren't on the grid and you were in the stands – and the race started, with those V10s, I can promise you the ground was shaking. It was absolutely moving under your feet, with such power transmitted by the noise, by the sound, by the surface, that it went through your body. It was sex on wheels” remembered the former F1 manager in comments reported by our colleagues at AutoHebdo.
Regulations in his sights
Eddie Jordan then indicated that the single-seaters running during this 2024 season were “tractors”. “Shame on the regulations! Shame on the organizers! And shame on the people who have Formula 1 buried deep in their souls because they have let this sport, in my opinion, take a step from which it may never return, and I absolutely hate them for that.” he added. As a reminder, the regulation which will come into force in 2026 aims to further reduce the weight of single-seaters. Not sure Eddie Jordan will be happy about it!
