Formula 1. Carlos Sainz will take the wheel of a Williams during the Abu Dahbi tests

Carlos Sainz will test the latest Williams (FW46) during the Abu Dahbi Grand Prix on December 8, the English team confirmed this Friday, November 15. The Spanish driver got the green light from Ferrari who will not keep him in 2025 since Lewis Hamilton is joining the Italians.

The Williams team revealed the information this Friday, November 15: its future recruit Carlos Sainz will take the wheel of its current car during testing for the last Grand Prix of the season, in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates). “This opportunity will allow Carlos and Williams to already start building their relationship”explains the English team in a press release.

Ferrari Feu Vert

As a reminder, Carlos Sainz signed up last July with Williams as part of a multi-year contract starting in 2025. The Spanish driver obtained the green light from Ferrari, his Italian team which had informed him that it would not would keep it from the start of this season.

After four seasons at Ferrari, with four victories to his credit so far, the Madrilenian had to find a new steering wheel following, in particular, the announcement of the recruitment of Lewis Hamilton alongside Charles Leclerc at Ferrari from 2025 .

Mercedes, for its part, will not allow the seven-time English world champion to do the same to familiarize himself with the Scuderia.
