There was movement at Magny-Cours this week, especially with Formula 1. The circuit was in fact the scene of the last Pirelli test of the year with the prototypes of the tires expected in 2026.

After Aston Martin at Barcelona in September and McLaren at Mugello last month, it was Alpine which stuck to the task at Nièvre on Wednesday and Thursday. The opportunity for the Italian manufacturer to test its 2026 tires, still 18 inches but less imposing, with a reduction in the width of the front tires by 25 mm and the rear tires by 30 mm.

The French team's mission was to run on rain tires with an A523 (car for the 2023 season) specially modified to be able to carry the prototypes. If the first day was truncated by a technical failure which prevented Jack Doohan from exceeding 47 laps, the Australian completed 106 this Thursday on an artificially watered track. The resumption of these tests is now scheduled for 2025.
