Lewis Hamilton does not hide his desire to start his adventure with Scuderia Ferrari as soon as possible after a series of poor results, but this will not be possible before 2025.
The more Formula 1 advances in its 2024 tour, the closer Lewis Hamilton's farewell to Mercedes comes. The Briton will only compete in three more races under the Silver Arrows banner before starting his new adventure in Red with the Ferrari team.
If the seven-time world champion was still fully motivated to finish in style with the German team at the start of the summer, it seems that he is now eager to close this chapter. Hamilton, who scored two consecutive victories at home at Silverstone then during the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, has not found his way to the podium since.
Worse, Sir Lewis now seems to be struggling with his W15 at every event, even though he only scored 13 points during the American tour which ended last weekend in Brazil.
Hamilton eager to start at Ferrari
After a meager tenth place in Sao Paulo, the Mercedes driver did not hide his desire to put an end to this difficult pass with the Grays.
« I focus on something else. I'm not fighting for the championship. It doesn't really matter where I finish the championship, he confided on the evening of the Brazilian Grand Prix. I don't care if I finish ahead of or behind George Russell. It makes no difference to me. »
“I just want to avoid sending the car into the wall and try to score points if I can for the team,
he continues. If they give me a car that doesn't bounce around the track in the next few races, then hopefully we can get a better result. But yes, I can't wait for Christmas. »
One last effort
Recurring rebound problems in this second part of the season, which have been bothering Hamilton for many races. The British champion nevertheless explains that he is sparing no effort in trying to find a solution.
“Obviously, it’s devastating to have such bad races, he laments. All I can say is that we are doing our best. But this is clearly not acceptable, it is clearly not enough and we must take responsibility for it. I have to take responsibility because George was more competitive, but I do the best I can with what I have. The car was worse this weekend and I don't know why. We'll have to find out. »
