The Rhône prefecture announced Tuesday that AS Saint-Etienne supporters would not be able to travel for the derby which will take place on Sunday in .

The Rhône prefecture announced on Tuesday that it was banning the travel of Saint-Etienne supporters to Lyon on Sunday for the match on the 11th day of Ligue 1, pitting the Greens against OL, the historic rival. “In order to prevent possible incidents and disturbances to public order, a series of measures will be taken on Sunday, November 10 for any person claiming to be an ASSE supporter or behaving as such,” indicated the prefecture.

They will be prohibited from traveling between the two cities, as will driving and parking on public roads in the city center of Lyon and access to the stadium and its surroundings, the press release specifies. Offending supporters risk six months in prison, a 30,000 euro fine and a one-year stadium ban. The two clubs, which face each other on Sunday at 8:45 p.m. at the Groupama stadium in Décines-Charpieu, in the metropolis of Lyon, have not faced each other since January 2022, Saint-Etienne having been relegated to Ligue 2 for two seasons.

Supporters of AS Saint-Etienne have no longer been allowed to come and support their team in Lyon during the derby between the two clubs since 2013. At the beginning of October, ASSE filed a complaint against official of the Greens was tagged with an inscription “Death to the Greens” signed by a sticker of the “Bad Gones”, the main ultra group of Olympique Lyonnais.
