By reaching 370.1 km/h during the 2005 Italian Grand Prix, Kimi Raikkonen broke the Formula 1 race speed record. Despite his impressive peak, the Finnish driver could not have matched this Belgian motorist, arrested after being flashed at 388km/h.

He breaks the F1 speed record

The crazy driver was traveling at 413 km/h with the margin of error applied! This impressive speeding violation was revealed in 2023 by our colleagues at La Derniere Heure, almost a year after it happened. The police preferred to remain discreet because an investigation is still underway.

“The exact location of these offenses cannot be communicated, as investigations may still be ongoing. We cannot give details. The road combined with the area would be too recognizable,” reveal the police to our Belgian colleagues.

After such an offense, the driver faces a prison sentence, the withdrawal of his driving license and a fine of €4,000.

In brief

Armed with a powerful Bugatti Chiron, a Belgian set a record speed limit by going 388 km/h, for a real speed of 413 km/h.
