Formula 1 | Mercedes F1: A ‘final’ evolution to ‘close the gap’

Mercedes F1 is ready for the United States Grand Prix, and more generally for the end of the 2024 season. Team principal, Toto Wolff, explained how the last races of the year will be crucial to launch the following season.

“This weekend marks the start of an intense series until the end of the year” Wolff said. “We have six races to contest over the next eight weeks, culminating in the season finale in Abu Dhabi.”

“Although we are not in contention for the championships, there is still a lot to do and we have the opportunity to create some highlights along the way. We want to finish this year as strong as possible, gain momentum momentum for 2025 and bid Lewis farewell in the best way possible.”

The Austrian reveals what’s new this weekend, and Wolff confirms that this is the last big package of 2024: “That’s why we have been working hard from Singapore to analyze our performance and see how we can improve.”

“We are making our final improvement of the season at Texas and our goal is to close the gap to the race lead. It will also provide useful information that will help guide our development for 2025.”

Like many teams, Mercedes has chosen to bring them despite the Sprint which will only leave one free practice session: “The Sprint format returns this weekend, and we will need to be at our best to effectively introduce the Evolution Package.”

“The Circuit of the Americas is a fantastic circuit, but one that surprised us last year. Its high-speed layout, combined with its bumpy surface, makes it a challenge for both the car and the driver. a circuit that we are looking forward to.”
