Leverkusen, reigning German champion, was held to a 2-2 draw at home by promoted Kiel after leading 2-0 on Saturday during the 6th day of the Bundesliga. Bayer is now fifth, two points behind the leader, Bayern Munich, before the Bavarian club travels to its runner-up Frankfurt on Sunday (5:30 p.m.). Winner on Saturday at Werder Bremen 1-0, Friborg climbs to third place, one point ahead of Leipzig (4th) which goes to Heidenheim (8th) on Sunday (3:30 p.m.).

Author of the winning goal against AC Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday, Victor Boniface opened the scoring in the 4th minute for Leverkusen, followed by Jonas Hofmann (8th). But Kiel came back thanks to a goal from Max Geschwill before the break (45+5) and a penalty from Jann-Fiete Arp (69th). Accustomed to winning at the wire during the title season, Bayer did not have the last word this time. Xabi Alonso’s team has already conceded 12 goals in six days of the championship, having only conceded 24 over the entire last season. For its part, Kiel takes a precious point in the race to maintain and leaves its last place to Bochum, beaten at home by Wolfsburg (3-1).

Far from the 7-1 inflicted at home on Celtic in C1 on Tuesday, Dortmund lost 2-1 on Saturday in Berlin. A penalty from Kevin Vogt (26th) and a goal from Yorbe Vertessen (45th) put the Union on the path to victory, despite the reduction in the score of Julian Ryerson (62nd), former player of the Berlin team. Borussia, finalist of the last Champions League, is in 7th place and could find itself six points behind Bayern, in the event of Bavarian success in Frankfurt.
