Being a Formula 1 driver has many perks, especially when you race for Scuderia Ferrari. In addition to finding yourself behind the wheel of one of the most successful single-seaters in the championship every weekend, Charles Leclerc also enjoys his status on a daily basis, with his Ferrari Daytona SP3 that he configured himself.
Charles Leclerc has been driving his new Ferrari prancing horse toy for several months now. He has already been spotted on the streets of Monaco driving a very rare Daytona SP3. One of the many privileges of racing for the most successful team of all time in F1…
Precisely, the Monegasque driver’s supercar will be temporarily exhibited at the Enzo Ferrari museum in Modena. The perfect opportunity for Charles Leclerc to take a tour of the car and detail its configuration, explaining his choices along the way. He also admits to having spent 5 or 6 hours in the studios of the Tailor Made department, to configure a copy that resembles him.
A Daytona SP3 in his image
Charles Leclerc chose to dress his Daytona in a matte black shade, in a nod to one of the helmets he used in racing. The livery is enhanced by the traditional badge, representing the rearing horse, painted on the wings. Two red and white stripes, forming the flag of the Principality of Monaco, run the entire length of the car. The wheels are also finished in black, while many bodywork elements are made of carbon fiber. A thin red stripe runs around the car, on the lower parts of the body. Finally, the number 16 is written on the doors.
On board, the bucket seats are upholstered in red Alcantara, and enhanced by leather strips that once again recall the Monegasque flag. A nod that is also found on the gearshift paddles. A carbon fiber plaque, located between the two seats, bears Charles Leclerc’s signature as well as his driver number.
As a reminder, the Ferrari Daytona SP3 is equipped with a naturally aspirated 6.5 V12 with 840 horsepower and 697 Nm of torque. The Italian supercar can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 340 km/h. Only 599 copies were produced. Charles Leclerc also has other Ferraris in his garage, including a Purosangue, an 812 Competizione A and a 488 Pista.
