Cycling. Simac Ladies Tour – Lorena Wiebes the 2nd stage, her 20th victory of the season

The day after the inaugural 10.1 kilometer time trial won in Gennep by the Briton Zoe Backstedt (Canyon // SRAM Racing), the 2nd stage of the Simac Ladies Tour connected Coevorden and Assen. Despite the superb resistance of the Dutch Ilse Pluimers (AG Insurance-Soudal Team), which was only caught 1.5 kilometers from the goal after carrying out a solo raid of almost 50 kilometers, this second day of racing ended with a massive sprint. We witnessed a great duel in the final straight between the Italian Elisa Balsamo (Lidl-Trek) and the Dutch Lorena Wiebes (Team SD Worx-Protime), and it was ultimately the latter which was able to raise its arms for the twentieth time in 2024.
