Cycling. Transfer – Rémi Cavagna should terminate his contract with Movistar

The passage of Remi Cavagna in the team Movistar will have been brief. Indeed, according to information from our Spanish colleagues from ASthe Frenchman who arrived last winter with a three-season contract will not continue with the Spanish team. Remi Cavagna has had a very difficult year, whether sportingly, with only one top 10 on the clock, or even personally, as he explained last June in an interview given to The Team : “The most difficult thing is the language barrier. I improved my Spanish, I had lessons and I understand almost everything, but when I want to express myself a little or impose myself, I am blocked The Spanish are always together, everything on the radio is in Spanish, and it’s complicated in difficult moments in the race. I admit it, it’s difficult. I came to the team to evolve, to progress. time trial, but I collapsed in a few months. I didn’t come here to finish in the top 50 in the Tour of Belgium, it’s not my place, it’s not my level.”

Rémi Cavagna towards Groupama-FDJ?

A somewhat wasted year for the Frenchman, while he was coming off a good 2023 season with the Soudal Quick-Step. Remi Cavagna has therefore apparently been looking for a way out for several months, after his failed experience in Spain and even though he has two years of contract remaining. A way out that he would have found with the Groupama-FDJwith whom it should evolve from 2025!

A solution which also fixes the Movistarwhich would thus free up a place in the squad and which would also save a large salary. A boon for the Spanish team which seeks to engage one of the revelations of the 2024 season: Pablo Castrillo.
