Jannik Sinner, King of New York after his title at the US Open

Jannik Sinner makes it two. After 2 hours and 15 minutes of play, the world number one dominated American Taylor Fritz, 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 on the Arthur Ashe court this Sunday, September 8 to win his second Grand Slam after the Australian Open last January.

Despite the support of the New York crowd, Taylor Fritz was unable to match Sinner’s quality of play and lost in three sets.

Doping accusations that had tarnished the Italian and his team seem long gone. Jannik Sinner delivered an impeccable performance in the US Open final, brilliantly countering Taylor Fritz’s game. Imperial in the rallies, solid at the back of the court, the player from San Candido in the Italian Alps did not flinch in front of the 23,000 spectators who cheered on Taylor Fritz.

After his victory, Sinner thanked his entourage: “Besides the field, there is above all life. And I want to dedicate this victory to my aunt who is not well,” he confided after his success. I don’t know how much longer she will be in my life. It’s wonderful to be able to share this moment with her. If I can make a wish for everyone, it is really to be in good health.”
