The City of (Seine-et-) is launching new works in Woodibut this time, it's not not to make housing. In order to strengthen the presence structures that can liven up neighborhood life residents and allow them to do sportsthe municipality has launched the work ofa large sports fieldwhich will bring together several different spaces.

The continuity of developments at Woodi

The city of Melun continues its development program in the Woodi quartersthus meeting the expectations of residents. After the rue Claudie Haigneréthe place Nelson Mandela and theplayground inaugurated this summer, new sports equipment will soon see the light of day on the Plaine des Sports.

This work, with an expected duration of four monthsbegan on January 6 for a delivery in spring.

The arrangements will include four courts : and city-stadeand basketball court 3×3, a space dedicated to street work-out and a structure of climbing games for the youngest.

To make these places even more user-friendly, equipment such as picnic tablesof the banks and baskets will be installed. The total investment amounts to 591 000 € TTC.

An inclusive project for all ages

Brigitte Tixier, deputy in charge of the Urban Renewal Program and the city's external relations, explains that these lands are designed for everyone. “These new spaces will meet residents’ expectations. They will be accessible to alland the different structures will be suitable for all ages“, she specifies.

This approach is part of the municipality’s desire to promote “ an inclusive policy« .

Noël Boursin, deputy delegate for Sports, adds that there will be the development of “sports play areas accessible to all in this district, promoting the social bondthe sports practice and the well-being of residents« .

However, as Brigitte Tixier points out, the development and maintenance of public spaces by the city can only begin after the official handover of this land by the developer. In the meantime, the municipality regularly provides services such as cleaning to meet the needs of residents.
