After a season in the Conti of Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale, Léo Bisiaux is taking the plunge into the WorldTour in 2025. And for his first pedal strokes among the big boys, the 19-year-old rider will debut in the Coupe de France Pro, namely the Classic Loire-Atlantique, the Roue Tourangelle, Paris-Camembert and the Route Adélie de Vitré. “Everything is run or finished on a circuit, it’s good for the rhythm. And it’s more accessible than the WorldTour”he believes. Afterwards, the menu will get tougher on the Tour des Alpes and the Tour de Romandie. “It will be a first test to see where I am. There will also be the Tour de Suisse, the French Championship and for the end of the season we will see what is possible”.
What is possible is perhaps… a Grand Tour. “We're not stopping ourselves from anything, we're going to see already with the Tour des Alpes, Tour de Romandie and Tour de Suisse sequence. That already gives a good idea. The Tour is impossible, it will either be the Vuelta or Nothing”. It is this sequence of stage races which will weigh in the balance. “It’s a nice progression to see how I recover, on tough climbing races. We also chose the Tour de Romandie because there are two times, it’s important.” As for its role, it is still to be defined. “At the Tour des Alpes, there will be Félix (Gall) so it will be to play in front with him, but in Romandie I don’t know”.
For the moment, Léo Bisiaux simply wants to discover his sensations on these races which should suit him in the future. “I haven’t planned on a role, we’re going to start already and see how I am”. Active in cyclo-cross, where he will extend his winter until the World Championship in Liévin, his late recovery will allow him to take his time. “When I started cross country, we focused on these cross type efforts, I don't do the same as the others, I go lighter. With the restart at the end of March, I will be able to get back on track. We will being able to make a good big block, it will feel good”.
