Pirelli signs a partnership agreement until 2029 with the Belgian team Alpecin-Deceuninck, one of the most successful and victorious teams on the World Tour circuit.
For them, the first race of the season will be the Tour Down Under 2025 which will take place in Australia and, from this event, the team's Canyon bikes will officially be equipped with Pirelli tires. Pirelli products will also equip the bikes of the Alpecin-Deceuninck Development Team.
The Alpecin-Deceuninck Cycling team includes world-renowned athletes. Among its riders, the Belgian outfit includes the winner of Paris-Roubaix and the 2024 Tour of Flanders, the winner of Milan-Sanremo 2023 and the reigning Gravel and cyclocross world champion Mathieu van der Poel; 2024 Milan-Sanremo winner and 2023 Tour de France green jersey winner Jasper Philipsen; as well as Sam Gaze, 2023 MTB XCC world champion.
During road events, athletes will have P ZERO RACE TLR RS tires, tubeless ready Made in Italy tires, specially designed for racing, which are at the forefront of the Pirelli range for high-level performance.
For the most demanding events, such as the Classics of the North or the Strade Bianche, riders can count on the P ZERO RACE TLR, a versatile tire, and on the CINTURATO Gravel tire family for gravel races. Finally, for the Olympic cross-country and short track cross-country events, Pirelli will make available its MTB SCORPION XC range, available in different variants and profiles.
Samuele Bressan, Global Marketing Manager de Pirelli Cycling :
Pirelli continues its development in the world of high-level cycling competitions by joining forces with another team on the World Tour circuit: Alpecin-Deceuninck is a prestigious team which has great ambitions and which was the first to transform the approach multidisciplinary into a true team philosophy. For us, this is at least as important as sports results, because it allows us to develop the product for all disciplines and with athletes with broad technical sensitivity. From road to off-road, including Gravel and MTB, we collaborate with technicians, mechanics and all team athletes, whatever their level, with the aim of offering them, and by extension to all cycling enthusiasts, ever more efficient tires.
Mathieu van der Poel was able to familiarize himself with Pirelli's P ZERO RACE TLR RS tires during a recent training course and gave his enthusiastic impressions:
I really like these tires. I was able to test them a bit here in Spain and their grip is excellent, especially on these roads which, especially in the morning, can be slippery. I always feel like I have full control over my bike, and it feels great.
Philip Roodhooft, general manager of the team, said:
It is a pride for us to collaborate with Pirelli. Our technical department was very enthusiastic following the first tire tests, an enthusiasm which was subsequently confirmed among the athletes. The main consideration was the quality of the product, but clearly Pirelli's global scale and reputation as a reliable brand also weighed in our decision. We are convinced that Pirelli can not only help us sustain the excellent performance of recent years, but also contribute to the continuous improvement that we strive to achieve every day.
