Cycling: end of the confectioners’ truce for the Vélo Club du Velay

This Sunday, two cadets traveled from Charvieu-Chavagneux to take part in the cyclo-cross run around Lake Fréminville.

The rather rolling circuit in order to spare those selected for the French championships which will be run on January 11 and 12 in Pont-Château (-Atlantique), allowed the strongest to express themselves.

From 1 p.m. Antoine Bonnaud is called to the second row while Mathis Ranc, at the start of his second cyclo-cross, occupies the last, at the heart of a strong field of thirty-four competitors.

A hundred meters after the start Antoine arrives in tenth position at the first turn to move up the line and be in the first three on the long straight which runs along the lake. Behind, Mathis is more cautious, gearing up while allowing himself to complete an effort of at least thirty minutes.

At the start of the second loop, Antoine, well on the pace, has nevertheless regressed and is struggling in seventh position. The end of the race saw him gradually return to his direct competitor whom he overtook to take an honorable sixth place which he retained until the finish.

Mathis, who improves over the laps, finishes his event a little far behind but satisfied and over-motivated to make the trip on Sunday January 12 for the cyclo-cross from Dramoison to Ricamarie.
