After starting at the back of the peloton, Electa Gallezot was condemned to do a comeback race this Saturday for the World Cup in Hulst. “I was very far away at the start. It was complicated in the crowd, there were really many of us at the start. I found myself around 60th place”. Far from being in panic, she took her time to overtake competitors. “I didn't panic, I went up place by place. Then, I found myself in the 40s. The holes were already huge. I settled into my own rhythm”. The result is anecdotal at the finish, but given the start of the race, it is rather positive (see ranking). “In the end, I finished 36th, it was a great comeback race. I would have liked to have had a better start and been straight into the fight. But starting sixth row, it's complicated”.
The Sebmotobikes rider nevertheless enjoyed the Dutch circuit. “It's quite complete and physical too. There are parts on foot, especially uphill, I like that, it allows me to save time. There are plenty of transition parts where you really have to be on the move. comfortable and where you can save a few seconds by being technically clean”. The only small regret was that the weather was not to his liking. “I was waiting for the mud. We haven't had any major projects yet, but it's a little less tiring for the body. It was technical without being a big project either”. She found additional motivation by battling with her teammate, Perrine Clauzel. “We meet up at all the races. It’s not easy for Seb (Sébastien Marasco) because we change bikes at the same time”she jokes.
But time passes faster together. “There is no pressure and a good atmosphere. Today, as soon as I returned to the Top 40, we were almost together the whole time. She told me: “It’s okay, you can change bikes,” smiles the 20-year-old rider. It's really good, we get by, it's good to have a teammate.”. But Electa Gallezot would now like this pleasure to turn into good results. “I'm having a little trouble getting into it on all my races. It's okay but I'm aiming for better. It's a little hard at the moment. I'm in my second year of medicine. But right now, I'm in vacation and I can breathe a little during this Christmas period with the cyclo-crosses. It allows me to get my head above water, it feels good, I want to do well in races that I enjoy. “. Like in Besançon, where she expects a large audience to wear her.
