The law on the democratization of sports federations of March 2, 2022 requires them to create a commission for high-level athletes. This commission will have an advisory role for “identify the needs of the Federation's athletes and promote their interests within the Executive Office and the Federal Council through the representatives it has designated“. Indeed, for the next four years, there will be two representatives of this commission in the Executive Office and the Federal Council, with each time, according to the texts, a man and a woman. The commission can also take charge even, or be seized by the Bureau or the Federal Council “all subjects that may interest high-level athletes, or even any subject having a direct or indirect link with the development of the practice, the outcome of which would be access to high-level practice“.
To apply, athletes had to be registered on the Next Generation, Elite, Senior and Reconversion lists during the last three Olympics, i.e. since January 1, 2013, and have held an FFC license for at least twelve months. Athletes from the Next Generation, Elite, Seniors and Reconversion lists appearing on the lists on the day of the election and holding a current federal license were eligible to vote. The vote took place by electronic voting from September 16 to 20. Six seats were to be filled but only five candidates declared themselves and parity was not respected since there were four women and one man.
The result of the vote :
Perrine Clauzel 96.15% elected
Roxane Fournier 92.3% elected
Yan Fat 84.6% elu
Lise Ménage 69.23% elected
Camille Maire 67.30% not elected.
If there are indeed three women elected to the Commission, there are two men missing to reach six. The seats remaining vacant will be filled in a subsequent vote which must be held within a maximum of one year. We still need to find candidates who are willing to commit.
Participation is 25% (74 voters for 294 theoretical voters). But only 17.7% of the votes (52 votes) were valid because it was necessary to nominate at least four candidates in their vote, otherwise they would be declared invalid.
The Top Athletes' Commission will now have to nominate two candidates for the Executive Office and two for the Federal Council at the General Assembly.
