Wout Van Aert (Visma | Lease a Bike) has the habit of posting its workouts on the online platform Strava. On Tuesday, he did a usual workout, 5.7 kilometers of jogging before riding for 116 kilometers with more than 1,850 meters of elevation gain. A normal outing, but it was the description he posted that had his fans worried. “I have an illness, it’s a very specific one” wrote the Belgian champion. However, Van Aert does not seem sick given his outings, this description would rather be a cultural reference.

A reference to… Eurovision
Indeed, according to our colleagues from the DHthe sentence “I have a disease, it's a very specific one” (translated, “I have a disease, it's a very specific one”) comes from a song by Joost Klein the last, and very controversial and disqualified, Eurovision representative for the Netherlands. Some also suggest that it could be a line from the Dutch film Character (1997), where the main character is a bailiff, described as uncompromising and determined. So don't panic since the Belgian is accustomed to doing this and regularly enjoys using phrases from songs in these Strava descriptions.
