The Chaumontais Cycling Club (VC Chaumontais) had the pleasant surprise of finding one of its members, Patrick Busolini, on the Facebook group “French Cycling” which has more than 25,000 members.
It must be said that this rider is not unknown in the world of cycling. Fifthe of the Tour de l'Avenir in 1976, the Chaumontais rode in the professional peloton from 1977 to 1981. During his first year, he defended the colors of the Miko-Mercier-Hutchinson team. Arriving first during the last stage of the Tour of Catalonia in 1977, he was downgraded for an irregular sprint.
In 1978, he was recruited by the Friends of the Tour de France team where he had a great Tour de Suisse in 1979. Twentieth in the final ranking, he stood out in the Locarno-Laax mountain stage, finishing second. Racing for the Inoxpran de Battaglin team in 1979, he participated in his first Tour de France which he left during the 15e step for late deadline. He will return there the following year, but under the colors of Puch-Sem-Campagnolo. He will finish at 21e place.
Since then, Patrick Busolini has not left the world of cycling. Under the colors of the Chaumontais Vélo club, he was crowned French cross-country mountain bike champion (60-64 year old masters category) in 2017, French cyclo-cross champion (60-64 year old masters category) in 2018 and French cross-country mountain bike champion (masters category 65-69 years old).
