Women's Cycling is still in full development, both in terms of rights, infrastructure… but also racing tactics. Whether on the Tour de France Women with ZwiftTHE World Championships or many other events, we have witnessed many inexplicable tactics during this 2024 season. Questioned by our colleagues from Het Nieuwsblad on the question, Patrick Lefevere (general manager of Soudal Quick-Step) and Tom Boonen (cycling legend) returned to this subject.

“80% of the time, I don’t understand what’s going on.”
“Team interests play less of a role for women than for men. In the end, everyone is chasing everyone else”said Patrick Lefevere.
“These women’s races are sometimes weird to watch”continues Tom Boonen. “I watch them, because they are often really intense. But in terms of racing tactics, 80% of the time I don't understand what's going on. It's so different from men's races. The difference in level between the elite and the category just below is still too big, in my opinion”concludes the four-time winner of Paris-Roubaix.
